You Don’t Say 2006

Last week a lady called in regard to this article telling me she remembered her grandmother talking about playing a game called “Hull Gull” and she had not thought of the word in years and years.  It’s nice to hear that Country Living sparks a memory for the readers.  This conversation just reminded me of how different our every day conversation is from what it was 60 or 70 years ago.  When have you heard talked about or seen a cradle used for gathering wheat, a hand-turned sausage grinder in use, or a black wash pot filled with boiling water and clothes?

I’m listing a few terms that were used in every day conversations in days gone by – can you remember seeing or hearing these things talked about?
