Things Continue …Beloved Things…The One She Loved Best Keeps Things Going
Guest writer: Beth Littlejohn
My daddy, the one she loved best, will keep things going…things they loved together. Daddy’s mother helped Daddy develop an appreciation for flowers. Mother enhanced and deepened that feeling in Daddy to love of flowers. He was always ready, well, sometimes he would grumble, to stop to dig a new wild flower spotted along the roadside or plant a cutting or root a cutting for a friend. Today bears evidence that Daddy will continue to care for Mother’s beloved flowers.
The flower gardens at the Windy Knoll are extensive and when weeding is finished in one area it must be started in another. Needless to say that with Mother’s surgery, hospitalization and subsequent death the weeding has gotten way, way, behind. Daddy can not do as much as he could 20 years ago, bt he has begun to plug away at the weeding. There are a few tears shed as he pull weeds in the special trillium area. Seeing him work, I joined him in the hydrangea area immediately to the right.
Wonder of wonders I found a new treasure! This beauty was buried under the junk and grass. This is a tiny plant and must be realatively new and is beautiful. Finding hidden pleasures in labor of the heart….one of the best things in country living!

I am so sorry for your loss. Thank you for letting us know. She touched a lot of lives.
A new hydrangea plant; glad you found the little beauty. Thank you for sharing your day.
