Not a Good Day but Blessings to Count

Thank you so much for your prayers and phone calls and text messages. They mean so much to Mother  and to those of us helping in so many ways.

Now for the news. Mother was told today that she must go to a rehab facility for a while. How long? I really can’t say as yet. She can stand and take a few steps but has not been successful in getting up from a sitting position. I know that as she waited for the surgery date to get here she did not walk as much due to pain. I can not blame her, she was in such pain!  But the inactivity caused her to get weaker. This is from my extensive medical (ha!) training. All I can do is hope and pray she will work hard to get stronger!

Donna is the workhorse right now. She is keeping the household going with Daddy and helping take care of Mother, and all the while tele-commuting to her office. She is an IT specialist at Kennesaw State University. I am sure that there is a better title that has been awarded to her, but I am not sure. Right now let’s just say she is my beloved sister and the rock of us both. I know we both have our strengths, but she is truly the rock!

And I love her.  She helps me through tough times of the heart and listens when I need an ear. She is the most perfect sister. And I am thankful to call her mine.

Loving family members who join together during tough times–such is the best of country living!

What a nice tribute to the older sister. I certainly don’t feel like a rock. God has blessed both of us with the ability to handle what comes our way. Sometimes good and sometimes, well, who knows. In this situation there are so many unknowns but I am a true optimist and I know the mettle of the two older ones and us two younger ones. Amazing the strength of character that God has blessed us with. Love my lil’ sis and my parents. My sweet hubby even came over and helpes get a giant potted plant lifted and more dirty put in, then he pressure washed the house and it does look better. There is a real story about this sweetheart too. Not sure it will ever be told but he was my high school sweetheart and the best of the best. Yes My Marine. Love you sis, mother and daddy. Those silly nurses asked if mother and I were sisters. Just have to laugh and go on. Might as well agree with them. Now when daddy told the doctor they had been married 67 years, I just said “I hope it has been a little longer than that as I am now 67!” Life is full of little things. Might as well laugh because it makes you feel better.
