Aunt Bill Rambles
Law, with these cooler days I jist had to put a quilt in the frame. One day a few ladies come over and hope me some. I can’t believe some young whipper snapper heer’d what we wuz a’doing and he come over with some of stuff and said he wanted to record our conversation. He wuz gonna make a CD — whatever that is. I can’t believe what some folks will do to make a living.
We jist talked about rolling the quilt and some things in the neighborhood. Some of them ladies brought their own quilt to show and hits always fun for show and tell. I think I forgot to tell them about Mr. Smith what used to live down the road from us. His wife pieced quilts or quilted all the time. Y, she didn’t do no housework and done very little cookin.’ One day Mrs Brothers what lives up in the pan handle sent Mrs. Smith some quilt scraps by Mr. Smith. Well, I guess he had had enough of the quiltin’ — he told his wife about the scraps, but said they must have blowed off’n the wagin. He did drive a team of spirited mules. You see, another neighbor was riding his horse and wuz right behind Mr. Smith and when he crossed the creek, he see’d Mr. Smith when he throwed the scraps in the creek!! I wish I had thought to tell them quilters that — they would have got a good laugh out’n that.
That boy said he was gonna put our day on a CD (whatever that is) and sell it. I don’t know if you would enjoy all them old tales or not. Guess you could try hit and see. I think you can scroll down on this site and read about it. This, too, is country living.
