A Windy Knoll Update

Wow!  What a day for two old folks.  I told you we’ve had termite damage — well, today was the day to get a new door as well as a storm door and what a mess all that makes.

The visit from kissin’ kin was a nice one.  They arrived earlier than we had expected and we went to Buck’s Pocket State Park — what a sight to behold!  Oak Leaf Hydrangeas and Aborescens are in full bloom and they are everywhere.  The sight is absolutely breathtaking.  We used to go to “The Pocket” and walk the trails to enjoy wildflowers — oodles of them.  We always liked to go when the Trout Lily was in bloom — the whole floor of “The Pocket” is yellow.  As you already know, Trillium is my favorite wildflower and we could always spot several varieties along the trails.  If you haven’t been to “The Pocket” you’ve missed a treat.

Remember ten days ago I started  the “brew” in preparation for baking Friendship Cakes?  Well, today was feeding day and I added two cups of sugar and a can of pineapple chunks.  This mixture is beginning to ferment and it makes getting up in the morning worthwhile, as you can stir the “brew” then lick the spoon!  Next feeding will be in ten days and I’ll add sugar and cherries — then ten more days will be baking day.  As I’ve told you before, I’m not a fast food cook.
