A Windy Knoll Report 11-27-13

It’s country living in the flesh!!  For weeks I’ve begged and prayed for a good rain and we’ve had only sprinkles.  Well, the prayers have been answered — so far we’ve had over 3 1/2″of rain.  John is lucky enough to have one of those fancy electronic rain gauges and we can stay inside and read the gauge.  Inside temperature and outside temperature both show on the dial, too.  Outside yhis morning it’s 30 and we fell as though it’s not much more than that inside.  Brrrrr!!!!  This old house is hard to heat and the sun porch adds to that, but on the other hand it is so much enjoyment — especially when the sun shines. There is a 1,000 piece Coca Cola puzzle on the table and that’s where I spend lots of time.  It is a booger — so many faces, colors and designs.  I can find a few pieces daily — so I suppose it will be spring time before its finished.

John spends his time taking care of the two cats.  They want out and then pronto they want in.  I’ve told him he’ll wear the hinges out on the door letting cats in and out.

This would be a good needlework day, but I can’t seem to get in the mood for that.  I have completed crocheting covering for a Christmas ornament and have several others to do.  And I have knitted a preemie cap and some ear warmers.  Staying busy is the best way to while away the hours on a day such as this, but age has something to do with staying busy.

Discussion is still underway as to whether we’ll put up a Christmas tree or not.  I love having the tree and enjoy

Tatted Snowflake

the ornaments we’ve hung for so many years; however, here again age is a factor.  I could spend some time washing, bleaching and stretching the snowflakes I have packed away.  There are crocheted ones and tatted ones and after a few years they begin to turn yellow.  I know I’ll put up the miniature tree — it only gets homemade mini snowflakes on it and is little trouble to pull out.  The problem is what we get out — we have to put back.  Duh!!

So much for the Windy Knoll report — maybe you’d rather have read the telephone book — nevertheless it’s country living.
