A Different Point of View.
A very different point of view comes from this older sister. I have heard that this is the between generation, where we have to take care of our aging parents and also the children, grandchildren, and even great grandchildren. Yes, I do have a great granddaughter and that makes your favorite blogger a great-great grandmother. I think we are very blessed and still our family is in the blessed beyond measure group. You, the readers certainly let us know that you care and are part of the generations which live an active, varied and what other adjectives could be put on our lives. I have made it through so many things and this is just one more. I am not especially quiet, although I always tell people that I am a wall flower and often people do not even know I am around. Quite the contrary, I try my best to be quiet but I seem to always get into some type of mischief and people know who I am without me even having an inkling of who they may be.
Well, I am back in Alabama. Having attended to being in the office on Monday and Tuesday this week and being able to put in a timecard for this month (Praise the Lord). Sister wanted me to wait and drive over on Wednesday of this week as she had to put in some time at her teaching job. OK, that sounds great, but I do not do morning. I know that I am supposed to get up in the a.m. and say “Good morning Lord!” but for the life of me I cannot keep it straight and always get up saying “God LORD, morning!” I am trying to keep the home fires burning, after finally being married to the love-of-my-life. We were high school sweethearts and that is yet another story. We had planned to attend a senior’s dinner that is held at a former church of mine and we have so many friends which we only get to see at these gatherings. You know the type. The church provides the meat and everyone brings a covered dish. My sweetie is a good cook too and he cooked green beans and they were delicious. He drove to meet me at the office and then we went to the gathering together. (Yea, time together even in the car is wonderful.) We had also invited friends from our Sunday School Class (not the current name but everyone knows what I am talking about, but with the myriad of names they now give it, who would know?) Had a group called the Looney Brothers (yes their real name) and they sang some hymns, which we seldom hear anymore and a couple others, like “I am my own grandpa!” We had a terrific time and drove back to office to pick up parked truck and then to home to gather a few clothes which had been washed and folded to put back in suitcase and hit the road.
(Makes me think of a song you may know it too “Hit the Road Jack, and don’t you come back no more, no more!”) And don’t we always forget something? This time it was my needlework, have been knitting dish clothes not to be confused with dishrags. Ok here I am trekking to Alabama from Georgia. The trip normally takes 2 – 2.5 hours and I arrived at the Crumly homestead in 1 hour and 45 minutes. Boy am I blessed, it was 11:30 P.M. and I was ready to put my head down and crash.
Ok, I know you are exhausted by now. Suffice it to say that we, Beth and I, are still playing tag team and attempting to take care of both Mother and Daddy. Please keep all in your prayers and know that you are loved from afar no matter if we have met or not. Your favorite blogger remains in ICU and is being treated for infection (boy another story about why) and fluid buildup. Beth has kept you up to date nicely. Russ has chipped in big time and is greatly appreciated. You are appreciated most of all. I will check back in perhaps on occasions. I get a little long winded and never thought I was a real talker but Daddy really does not like and has never liked to talk on the telephone. At one point when I would call their house and he would answer, he would be handing the phone to Mother and I heard him say, “Windy is on the phone!” Well this is my part of country living but at this point it feels like cross-country living.
Thank you for the update and the chuckles. Take care of yourselves too.
Enjoyed your “point of view”. Being called Windy is not bad – just means you communicate well.
