My mother and her younger brother was also born here, 8 and 9 of the children. The house had a dog trot(hallway) which was closed in long before I came along but I remember when one wall was moved to create a living room in the hall area. My husband took an early retirement and we moved here to help my mother and dad. They had moved into a new house we built on the property in anticipation of moving. We moved into the old house and my husband rewired and replumbed the house and that wall was removed to open up a large living room. I remember when the bathroom was added and a few years ago, a laundry room was added off the bathroom. Just recently my daughter did the paper work and got the farm designated as “Copeland Coker Heritage Century Farm”. We have the old land deeds that go back over 100 years and know that the farm was in the Copeland(my mother’s family) family before that.
