Brought back many memories of when I was a child and helped my aunty n nana piece together a quilt. They used flour sacks and also made their own batting from cotton. Us kids hated pulling the seeds out for it took so long and our fingers would be sore. But the quilts sure did look pretty and kept us nice and warm on cold winter nights. Nana always kept scraps of cloth and she would make them up into patch work quilts or into clothing. Never did anything go to waste, everything was saved and repurposed.
I miss my nana and how proud she’d be of work well done, the stories she’d tell of our families history. Those are precious memories I will never forget and share with my grand kids now.
