Characters in Conyers
Beth Littlejohn, Writer
After spending the first several days after Mother’s funeral with Daddy, I returned home. I am happy to be home. As I will be one of the three contributing authors to this continued blog, I need to introduce to to the cast of characters which whom I share my home here in Conyers, GA.
My husband is Mark. He is a wonderful, talkative fellow. He is a mailman. He is quick to laugh and is very entertaining. There are few things he likes better than eating and talking! He is fun to be with and I love him.
We have cats. As you may remember, I was never allowed to have a cat as a child and you might say that I have over compensated because we now have five. We did not plan to have five, but have them we do! Each has their own distinctive personalities.
Puss is the oldest. She is really Mark’s cat. She has been in our home off and on since she
was a kitten and belonged to my step-daughter. She is small and delicate and a yellow tabby. We adopted her permanently when Sarah moved into an apartment which did not allow animals.
Along with Pussy came what Sarah called Baby Cat but he is the bully of the bunch! Since he has been with us, we have called him Bubba. He is a gray tabby with a white blob under
his nose. He pushes all the others around, is fat and lazy, and, if we drank would probably have a drink too. Since we don’t participate in that activity, he is out of luck!
We found our third cat, Sharpie, as a tiny kitten in our garbage. He was born here and here he will stay. He is
actually the strongest and tallest of all but is also the shyest! It is so funny to see this solid black, save a few white chest hairs, mew like the tiniest baby you can imagine. She has beautiful green eyes. If you know the movie, How to Train Your Dragon, he reminds me of Toothless, especially when you look at him full face.
The last two kitties came into our lives a couple of years ago. Momma Cat was a prolific breeder. After three litters in a year, we decided to have her fixed and bring her onto the
house. We were good at giving the kittens to good homes, all but the last one. So into the house came Boots. Boots is very loving and, as his name suggests, has four white boots.
Momma and Boots are both gray tabbies.
I welcome you into our Conyers home. I guess adapting to new authors will be part of our version of country living.
