Childhood Memories of Spring, Swings, and Sweet Shrub
Patient update: Thanks to those who have sent cards, sent food to the house, and spent time visiting! I know Mother and Daddy appreciate your thoughts and attention so very much. I visited with Mother for a while today. I took the computer and she tried to write a post but just could not do it yet. We will try again tomorrow.
She had had physical therapy and was exhausted and hurting some but even though she was hurting right at that moment she said that her pain was less than the day before. There is still a long road to travel but she will make it! She is tough. I just hate to see her in pain.
Now for my guest post:
As a child there were few things that I liked to do more than swing in the cool of the early
evening. When we lived in Smyrna there was a sizable side yard which held my swing set. I don’t know but Donna may have used it first, but by the time I was ready to swing she was out of my way – dating and such. At the end of this side yard was a gigantic sweet shrub bush. If you have ever smelled a sweet shrub you know there is no better fragrance on this earth.
As Daddy and I were outside on the beautiful May evening we walked toward the bush that is a descendent of the Smyrna. Now, at the Windy Knoll, there is usually a gentle breeze. As we approach the bush the breeze came up and I caught a whiff of that sweet, sweet plant’s bloom. I could not help but think back to my childhood.
Fond memories are a part of country living.
