Seniors Enjoy the Week End

Beautiful Sand Mountain

Beautiful Sand Mountain

Usually our days are slow, quiet days; however, the week end gave us a change.  On Friday our youngest came and I had a myriad of electronic chores to do.  I think I wore her out.  Old folks are not as astute as her younger students and even though she teaches every day — this was different.  I’m sure she was glad school let out and she could go home.  She is an easy one to cook for — her order was pinto beans and hot cornbread.  How much easier could it be?

On Saturday our eldest and her better half came and again we had a list of chores.  I hardly let them get seated until I directed Brad to put new grippers on my aluminum walker.  That was an aggravating job, to say the least.  At one time we had a leak in the apartment built down on the side of the barn and the water got the sheet rock in the apartment wet.  We suppose one of the cats was chasing a mouse or something and fell through the wet sheet rock — John couldn’t find the cat and finally discovered he was in the apartment.  Anyway another job for Saturday was to get the new piece of sheet rock put up.  Donna was to re-set the timer on the light for the plants in the basement and to get the combination on the safe to open it.

My good friend had told me about a place Brad might like to put his fishing boat in and after the jobs were done we drove over to Morgan’s Cove.  Talk about pretty  — that is beautiful.  If you’ve visited Buck’s Pocket State Park — this is similar, but with the water at the bottom.  As long as I’ve lived here I had never been there.  I’ve told you before about beautiful Sand Mountain and this is just another example of the beauty.  I can’t wait to see it in the spring and I’ll bet there’s lots of wildflowers there as well.  Brad loved the looks of the dock and boating area, so no doubt he’ll try it out before long.

Needless to say, all this activity tired the old couple –but it made for a good night’s sleep and was some of the best of country living.
