Two Christmas Quilts
It was about 30 years ago that we fell in love with a young couple in Marietta, Georgia and they were 25 years younger. For some unknown reason there was a bond between us that still holds today. We keep in touch with this family almost as though they were our own.
Later this couple had two children and you can imagine how we felt about them. Some 20 years ago — after we moved back to the place of my birth — I made each of those children a Christmas quilt. Today this young man has some kind of a prestigious job in Bermuda and his sister is making a doctor — we don’t get to see them often, but I’m told they cherish the Christmas quilts. Tradition says they put them on their beds on December 1 and take them off January 1. Some times the mother has an argument on her hands when it’s time to pack the quilts away. I’m pleased that the quilts are such treasures and have been taken of so well. I did lots of applique on them, which is my favorite way to make a quilt top. This is also my favorite way of country living.

Indeed, the quilts are cherished possessions! The photos don’t do justice to their exquisite beauty. Thank you for making them so personal ~ letters with cousins names in the mailbox, real pictures of the children and meaningful appliques (ie a church). Their value is immeasurable but appreciated!
